Thanks for checking out the LuckyMutt.ca blog! Ill be posting here at least once a week, sharing photos of my pets, other peoples pets, and sometimes just images of life as I see them.
Feel free to comment or contact me.
I was very proud to have sponsored the Oakville & Milton Humane Society‘s Cause for Paws event a couple of weeks ago with a silent auction prize. Two somewhat senior pups, Bedford (yellow lab) and Miller (daschaund), were the winning family’s pups. Miller is one of the greatest models I’ve ever seen – he loves posing for the camera!
Here are a few of my favourite shots from the session.
Lots of photos from a crazy Sunday! The Milton Mutt Strutt was well attended, with fundraising efforts capping $20,000, despite torrential downpours, brief glimpses of hope in the sun and winds that chilled to the bone. Prints and digital editions are available! Just contact me via the ‘contact’ link on the top right of this page. I had a booth set up (see the first pic… a photo KIA from the weather) and took a lot of snaps. Here is the first chunk of them.

More photos to be uploaded Tuesday night – promise!
I was extremely proud to be asked to be the photographer for a promotional shoot for the Oakville & Milton Humane Society’s Milton Mutt Strutt 2011. Ti-Cats’ linebacker Yannick Carter and his girlfriend are the honourary chairs, and I was invited into their home to do photos of them and their two adopted cats, Kohl and Bently. Kohl was a bit shy and didn’t want to pose for the promotional shots, but I was able to sneak up on him a few times anyway. Bently was a ham.
LuckyMutt.ca photographer Lianne Howie and newspaper man husband Michael were profiled on the Always Good News Show on CTS on Friday night to help promote the Oakville and Milton Humane Society.
I spent an hour with some dear friends, Becky and Scott, and their cat, Tucker. She was named after former Maple Leafs player Darcy Tucker, something Scott continously points out was decided before he showed up.
After getting a little tired of being a model, Tucker took refuge under the kitchen table. It resulted in some great shots!
Daddy’s little girl.
I’m doing the photography for a feature series in North Oakville Today on the Lions’ Foundation Dog Guides of Canada. Here are photos from the first two shoots, including Orca the Special Services Dog, and Euro the Canine Vision dog. Both were beautiful black labs, though Euro was one of those 4 per cent of Black Labs with points – gorgeous!
The series should start showing up in the newspaper in April.
I spent a couple of hours at the Oakville and Milton Humane Society taking photos of three very special guests they have: Tristan, Lyle and Thalia. These three hound mixes have been there for some time: people seem intimidated about bringing home a scent hound. I can personally tell you they’re all lovely dogs! Hopefully with these photos and a feature in North Oakville Today in the coming weeks we can help them all find homes!
Tristan was a little camera shy and a little more interested in checking out the new room than he was treats, but that’s okay. He is, after all, a hound.
Thalia was also a bit shy, but very very gentle and sweet. She has the matronly look about her that suits hounds so well.
And finally Lyle. Oh Lyle. If I had a backyard, you’d be playing in it right now. Lyle was an all-star poser and extremely attentive. He’ll make such a wonderful family pet!
Check out the Oakville & Milton Humane Society if you want to learn more about these three lovely hounds.
